Do I need a permit?
Permit requirements depend on where the sign is installed and how it is powered. Rules vary by city, county, and property, but the guidance below reflects how permitting typically works in most areas.
Interior neon signs usually do not require a city sign permit, especially when they are plug-in and used for decorative purposes. This is common for LED neon installed inside retail spaces, offices, or homes. That said, some landlords, shopping centers, or HOAs may still require their own approval—particularly for signs visible through windows.
Hardwired interior signs may require an electrical permit, even if a sign permit is not required. This is common for acrylic neon and some glass neon installations and is typically handled by a licensed electrician.
Exterior neon signs almost always require a sign permit, regardless of whether the sign is LED neon, acrylic neon, or glass neon. Many jurisdictions also require an electrical permit for illuminated or hardwired exterior signs. Because exterior signage is regulated by local zoning and building codes, it’s safest to assume a permit will be required unless confirmed otherwise by the city.
In most cases, your installer or electrician can use the drawings and specifications we provide to pull the required permits and schedule inspections. If preferred, we can also assist with permitting or apply for permits on your behalf upon request, depending on the location and local requirements.

Will my sign be weather resistant?
Weather resistance depends on the type of neon you choose and how the sign is built and installed.
LED Neon signs are best suited for indoor use. While we can manufacture LED neon to be weather-resistant for outdoor applications, exterior use is not generally recommended due to long-term exposure to sun, heat, and weather. If outdoor LED neon is required, additional protections and specifications apply.
Acrylic Neon signs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. When built for exterior installation, they are fabricated with weather-resistant materials and components designed to handle outdoor conditions.
Glass Neon signs can also be used indoors or outdoors. Exterior glass neon is built with appropriate housings, transformers, and installation methods to withstand weather exposure when properly installed.
For any outdoor installation, proper mounting, electrical configuration, and local code compliance are required to ensure long-term performance.

What happens if my sign arrives damaged?
In the rare occurrence that your sign arrives damaged, rest assured that we have you covered. We take great care to ensure our products are securely packaged, but if damage does occur during shipping, we will replace any damaged sections free of charge.
